Rose Gold is the heart of Knee Deep Farms. Acquired from The Chaneys on May 27, 2025 as one of our foundation females, she’s our cornerstone dam and our gold standard.

When we aren’t sure what a good Dexter should be, we watch Rose Gold. She was the first cow to calve on our farm. We noticed the gentleness and attention she showed him, the trust she granted me when I helped him out of the hay ring after he got stuck at just 24 hours old, and the affection she shows in her bovine way.

She’s the quiet leader of the herd. Wherever she goes, the others follow. She’s confident without being pushy, gentle without being timid, and always happy to stop for a scratch.
