Thoughts on One Owner Beef

What Is Knee Deep Farms' One Owner Beef? (And Why Does It Matter?)

What if you could trace a steak back to one farm... and one family?

That's the idea behind One Owner Beef.

It's a term we coined at Knee Deep Farms to describe complete responsibility—from breeding our Dexter cattle to the beef that bears our name.

We didn't invent a new way to raise cattle. In many ways, we're simply returning to the way it used to be. Long before cattle became part of a complex supply chain, families raised livestock they knew, cared for, and stood behind from beginning to end.

That's the tradition we're trying to carry forward.

So, what is One Owner Beef?

At Knee Deep Farms, One Owner Beef means the animal is bred here, born here, raised here, and finished here—under our care for its entire life.

From the day a dam conceives, to when a calf takes its first wobbly steps, until the day it provides nourishment for another family, there's only one set of hands responsible for its care: ours.

That means we know more than an ear tag number.

We know who likes to start trouble.

We know who insists on being first to dinner.

We know which mamas are fiercely protective, which calves are naturally curious, and which cow quietly leads the rest of the herd without ever having to prove she's in charge.

Every animal has a name because every animal has a story.

Stay knee-deep in what matters,

Jen
